Zhong Yi Optics has unveiled a new budget ultra-fast cine lens Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm T1 with Micro 4/3 mount. It became the fourth lens in the Mitakon Cine lineup. All four lenses are the same size and have the same control layout. All lenses in the lineup are color matched to make color grading easier in post-production.
The manufacturer reports that the lenses of the Mitakon Cine series (for the M4/3) have been designed to minimize the undesirable effect of focus breathing.
The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm T1 MFT uses a 9 blade diaphragm. The minimum focusing distance is 60 cm, the maximum magnification is 0.1x. The optical scheme consists of 9 elements in 6 groups. The lens weighs 720 g and is 102 mm long. The case diameter is 80 mm, the filter thread is 77 mm. When focusing, the physical size of the lens remains the same.
The body of the cinema lens is made of metal and has an engraving. A quality protective case is included with the purchase of the kit.
The Speedmaster series is designed for filmmakers on a budget. The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm T1 MFT lens sells for $399 by itself or $1,339 with three other lenses.
