Sony ZV-1F: New Compact Camera for Vloggers

Posted on

Sony has announced a new compact camera Sony ZV-1F with advanced video shooting capabilities. Compared to the Sony ZV-1, the manufacturer has abandoned a number of features in favor of ease of use and lower prices.

The new product uses the same inch matrix with a resolution of 20.1 MP 1″ (Exmor RS BSI CMOS). Instead of a zoom lens, the Sony ZV-1F received a 20mm (35mm equivalent) f2.0 fixed focal length lens. At the same time, digital zoom 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 4.0x is available.

According to the manufacturer, this solution is better suited for the authors of video blogs, as well as street photography.

It is worth noting that the camera does not have matrix stabilization, only electronic. The maximum burst speed is 16 fps. The maximum video recording quality is UHD 4K 30 fps. At the same time, a shooting mode with a high frame rate of Full HD 120 fps is also available. Also, advanced shooting profiles will be available in the new camera: S-Cinetone and HLG and S-Log3/2. It will also add opportunities for color correction of the material, but not much, since the recording is in 8-bit 4:2:0. ISO range 125-12.800. The camera battery lasts about an hour of video recording.

There are also special shooting modes for vloggers: hyperlapse, software blurring of the background (there is a special button on the top of the camera body for this), eye autofocus.

The camera received a compact lightweight body (weight — 256 grams), a 3.0 ″ 0.92 million dots swivel touch screen (the same as in the Sony ZV-1 camera). The camera also has a built-in directional 3-capsule microphone with a windscreen included. You can connect an external microphone via the 3.5mm jack. There’s also a micro HDMI port, and the micro-USB has been replaced with USB-C.

It supports uploading content to services using a wireless connection from a smartphone (Bluetooth 4.1 or Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n), including live broadcasts. The Sony ZV-1F can also record vertical videos, making the camera suitable for TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
