Canon has introduced two new compact wide-angle lenses for the RF-mount system. This is a high-power wide-angle macro lens RF 24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM and a compact ultra-wide-angle RF 15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM. The new items are fully compatible with the latest mirrorless cameras with APS-C format matrices: Canon EOS R7 and EOS R10, as well as with the previously released EOS R, EOS RP and EOS R6.
The Canon RF 24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens in its design has a 9-lobed aperture and an optical image stabilization (IS) system with an efficiency of 5 steps. At the same time, when combined with matrix stabilization (IBIS), the efficiency increases to 6.5 steps. The minimum focusing distance to the subject is 14 centimeters from the camera matrix. The magnification factor is 0.5x. In the design, as in the top models, a configurable control ring is implemented in addition to the manual focus ring. Autofocus is controlled by a stepper STM motor. There are 11 elements in 9 groups in the optical scheme, and the proprietary Super Spectra is used as an antireflection coating. The Canon RF 24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM lens is compact and lightweight weighing 270 grams. Pre-order Canon RF 24mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM Lens.
The Canon RF 15-30mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens refers to a wide-angle zoom lens. This lens has a built-in optical stabilization system of 5.5 steps. If installed on a camera with an integrated stabilizer (IBIS), the stabilization efficiency increases to 7 steps. The magnification factor is 0.52. The autofocus is controlled by a stepper STM motor. Autofocus is fast and silent enough. The Canon RF 15-30mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is compact and durable weighing 390 grams. Pre-order Canon RF 15-30mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens.
